On Sunday, March 23, a young man died in an accident in a rural part of Sacramento County.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 7.15 p.m. along Highway 99 near Elverta Road in Sacramento County. Pedestrian Accidents

Victims of pedestrian accident face serious injuries and typically have to fight hard for justice and compensation. Drivers and their insurance companies will claim that you were in the wrong when you were hit. Our experienced Sacramento pedestrian accident attorneys have been fighting for injured pedestrians and their loved ones for decades. We know what to expect, and how to prepare a winning case for you.

Pedestrian Accident Locations

We tend to think of a pedestrian accident as something that happens when crossing the street, but pedestrian accidents can happen anywhere that vehicles and people who are not inside vehicles may encounter each other. Examples of setting where pedestrian accidents occur include:

  • Intersections
  • Crosswalks
  • Alleys
  • Sidewalks
  • Front yards
  • Parking lots
  • Parking structures
  • Shoulder of the road
  • Bike paths
  • School zones
  • Bus stops
  • Driveways
  • Freeways, including on-ramps and exit ramps
  • Overpasses and bridges
  • Railroad crossings
  • Loading and unloading zones
  • Warehouses

Although driver negligence is most often the cause of pedestrian accidents, the location of a pedestrian accident can play a role in who can be held liable.

If a malfunctioning traffic signal, or another roadway defect was involved, you may have a case against the government entity responsible for the design, construction and/or maintenance of the roadway. In pedestrian accidents that are the result of factors such as poor parking lot design or inadequate lighting in parking structures may fall under premises liability.
